All such policies, directions and duties shall be communicated to the Executive Director by the President of the Corporation, or by the Chairperson of the Personnel Committee. The Executive Director shall report and be directly responsible to the President of the Corporation.”

Executive Director Job Description
Position Summary
The Executive Director holds ultimate responsibility for the day-to-day operations of AOTV and WVAO-LP. The Executive Director’s responsibilities include strategic planning, operations, staff administration, program development, community outreach, financial oversight, contract negotiations and compliance, fundraising, communications/public relations, and media production.
General Management and Oversight
● Collaborate and meet regularly with the Board of Directors to develop mission
focused initiatives, policies and strategic goals for our Public, Educational, and
Government Access TV channels and WVAO-LP Radio Station.
● Prepare and present written and verbal reports of operations and financial activities to the AOTV Board of Directors.
● Responsible for the negotiation and compliance of all contracts.
● Ensure the organization is in compliance with all local, state, and national laws.
● Identify, plan and implement technology upgrades for the media center,
municipal broadcast/livestream systems and radio station within budget.
● Oversee resolution of technical issues with production equipment, computers,
hardware, software, broadcast systems, livestream, and network systems.
● Oversee general repairs and contractors for the media center facilities and
equipment.
● Ensure WVAO-LP is in compliance with the Federal Communications Commission.
● Responsible for gathering and presenting statistics, financials, and highlights of previous fiscal year in a written Annual Report
● Responsible to oversee the three largest TV Productions; AOTV Auction, River Rat Race and Foodathon.
● Interpret, implement and enforce policies and procedures that have been established by the AOTV Board of Directors.
● Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required by AOTV Board of Directors.
Finance
● Collaborate with Finance Committee to prepare annual budget for discussion and approval by the Board of Directors
● Oversee day to day financial operations of accounts receivable and accounts payable
● Oversee purchases and sales for supplies and equipment
● Maintain legal operations of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
● Enter weekly payroll and ensure for accuracy. Track quarterly and year-end payroll tax.
● Prepare all financial reports for accountant for annual tax returns.
● Oversee fundraising and AOTV Auction
● Seek supplemental revenue from Sponsorships, Grants and Production Services
Outreach
● Identify and foster strategic relationships with community partners to utilize our resources to produce programs and community events that enhance AOTV’s mission.
● Represent AOTV in the community as a member of local civic and business organizations
● Demonstrate professional communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
● Oversee recruitment and development of interns, volunteers, and community
producers and programmers (membership).
● Oversee management of all social media channels, email newsletter, website
communications and marketing efforts.
Professional Development
● Attend conferences and workshops with community media trade associations,
and build/maintain a professional network.
● Monitor telecommunications and PEG Access TV policy changes and legislation
at a local, state, regional, and national level, and keep the Board informed.
● Identify training/development opportunities for Staff.
Human Resources
● Manage employee hiring, evaluations, terminations, benefits and payroll.
● Maintain clear personnel policies in compliance with the law.
● Ensure that job descriptions are maintained, regular performance evaluations are
held, and sound human resource practices are in place and adhered to.
● Implement effective cross training of staff with appropriate provisions for
succession, replacement, and emergency coverage.
