From The Executive Director
Greetings All!
Another year that I have the privilege to talk about incredible volunteers and money. Two of my favorite subjects.
First, we had another banner year of volunteerism here at AOTV. The people who donate their time in 2010 translated to 4,755 hours and interns for over 1,800 more.
There are few people I have to single out this year because they are going into semi-retirement. Dick Walsh has been a part of AOTV since 1995. He has been on our Board, held officer positions, built the Mobile Van, fixed pipes, soldered cables, swept floors and has been an integral part of AOTV. His wife Mary has always helped whenever she came to AOTV with Dick. A few tasks that Mary did was to coordinate the food for the Auction, copied and collated the Annual Report, and prepare our Holiday Cards for mailing.
Susan Bredesen has also announced her semi-retirement. She has been the backbone of the Auction computer work, remember we’ve more than quadrupled since the first year. Someone has to keep me organized. I can’t express how much we will miss Dick, Mary, and Susan in our day-to-day lives. However, notice I said semiretirement….they have already committed to help with Auction 2011. Not to the extent that they have in the past, but they can’t completely stay away. It’s great to know our ‘family’ may not be around as often, but they still will come home on important occasions.
Second, we paid off our mortgage at the end of 2010. Check out the Balance Sheet. Our liability is zero. We need to thank Rick Kwiatkowski and David Ames for establishing an audit of subscriber fees, which was able to put an extra $21,000 into our bank account. We were then able to pay off the mortgage early and save some money for new HD cameras.
Thanks to all the volunteers and staff. AOTV wouldn’t be the same without all of you. Here’s to another exciting year!
Carol
